Cute is now cool, and major brands have been tapping quirky art and cartoon characters for collabs that we wouldn’t have expected. Here’s a look at when fashion, art and even anime characters collide.
Late American artist Keith Haring was known for his pop art and graffiti-like work that grew out of the New York City street culture of the 1980s. And on Kipling’s latest collection, you’ll spot the likes of his iconic subway chalk drawings. You’ll definitely want to check out the brand’s signature Art bag (perfect for everything from staycays to the gym, or for baby supplies).
There’s also a new Delia backpack series, which comes in three sizes: Delia, Delia Mini and Delia Compact. The compact version can be worn in three ways; as a backpack, a crossbody and a bum bag.
Further personalise your purchase with the embroidery service (you can choose the font type and colour), available only at the Ion Orchard store.
Longchamp‘s iconic Le Pliage series gets an electrifying update this Fall. Launching on Oct 13 in all Longchamp stores, the French brand has a new Pokemon collab that will see the latter’s adorable mascot, Pikachu, gracing its bags.
It will be available in four exclusive versions, including a black and white LGP canvas (seen on a shoulder bag design, as well as a backpack, crossbody bag, and mini bag), embossed leather, a numbered, limited edition design, and a black canvas featuring a Pikachu specially designed for the fashion house. It even dons a jockey’s helmet that nods to the Longchamp logo.
Pokemon GO players will be able to catch pokemon in style, too, with an avatar backpack accessory item available during a special in-game event between Oct 2 and Nov 17, 2020.
In another fashion-meets-art tie-up, Coach celebrates renowned and late New York City artist Jean-Michel Basquiat for a line-up of bags and clothing that are emblazoned with his expressionist and abstract drawings.
You’ll find recurring motifs from the Haitian-American artist, like his signature crown, as well as a crown-wearing dinosaur from his artwork Pez Dispenser.
Skechers has joined forces with the Hello Kitty brand to launch a series of sneakers, slides and apparel stamped with motifs of the iconic cat, including its signature bow.
The Hello Kitty designs will appear on two of Skechers’ iconic sneaker silhouettes for women – the chunky ‘Energy’ and the classic lace-up ‘V’lites’ design. They will also be available in selected colourways of the sneakers in sizes for girls.
And if that isn’t enough for you Hello Kitty fans, check out its apparel line with T-shirts and pullovers, too.
The Skechers X Hello Kitty Collection is now available online exclusively on Lazada. It will be available from 1 Oct, 2020, at selected Skechers stores, including Jurong Point, Jewel Changi Airport, Bugis Junction, Great World City and Suntec City.
In this team-up of two Japanese icons – beauty brand Shu Uemura and anime One Piece – you can expect to find rich, bold hues that one would expect of a pirate’s treasure chest.
There are two eye palettes with ten shades each, the Treasure Box Eye Palette Grand Line with jewel tones that nod to the Grand Line ocean current (where most of the story’s plot takes place), and the Thousand Sunny palette with warm, bronzed hues that are inspired by sunlight reflected on the ocean.
Other pieces in the collection include brand’s iconic iconic Rouge Unlimited, Petal 55 Foundation brush, Hard Formula eyebrow pencil, and more.
The Shu Uemura x One Piece collection will be officially launched in all stores and online from Oct 29. It has also been pre-launched exclusively at Tangs & Tangs Online.
