Desmond Tan Welcomes 2nd Child, Shares Daughter’s Reaction To Her Baby Brother

Singapore actor Desmond Tan is officially a proud dad of two! The 39-year-old heartthrob has just welcomed his second child — a baby boy — at Thomson Medical Centre, weighing in at a healthy 3,465g on September 22, 2025. Their firstborn, a daughter, who turned one in March this year, was also delivered at the same hospital.

The big reveal came via Desmond’s Instagram and Threads today (September 23), where he couldn’t wait to share the happy news and adorable family snaps with his fans.

“Now we are four! Didi is here! It’s gonna be a handful, but I’m loving it!” Desmond shared.

“My heart had already known a love so profound when I became a father for the first time that I wondered if there was room for more. Then you arrived and showed me that a heart doesn’t divide… it multiplies! Welcome to the world, my son!

Messages of congratulations quickly poured in beneath Desmond’s announcement, with the likes of Priscilia Chan, Huang Biren, Dennis Chew, Xiang Yun and Christopher Lee leading the comments. The star-studded comment section, along with an enthusiastic wave of fans and netizens, made it clear that the Tan family’s happy news has everyone celebrating right along with them.

The actor previously announced on April 3, 2025, that his wife, his university sweetheart whose identity remains private, was pregnant with their second child. The couple tied the knot in 2021 after 12 years of dating, with a destination wedding held at a chateau in France. Their firstborn arrived on March 5, 2024.

When we congratulated Desmond on his new bundle of joy via WhatsApp, he enthusiastically shared that the birth of his son was “definitely less dramatic” compared to the first time when they had their daughter. Then, his wife had gone through 26 hours of labour.

“Everything felt familiar yet different at the same time. Having gone through the process once makes us more aware of what to expect, hence it was less stressful. The joy is different too! I never knew that my heart would expand and love one more person as much,” he said.

As for his wife, Desmond assured us that she is “recovering very well”. 

“Last night, when she was feeding at 3am, I told her that she’s glowing with radiance. Her skin was smooth and showed minimal signs of tiredness. I’m so happy that she’s recovering well and feeling great!” 

Desmond’s daughter has also been warmly adjusting to the arrival of her baby brother. According to the actor, his daughter’s eyes “softened as she gazed at him” for the first time. 

It turns out that Desmond and his wife have been introducing her to the idea of having a little brother with a book that they have been “reading to her at bedtime for months”. 

The book? I Am A Big Sister, which tells the story of a little girl preparing for the arrival of a new baby sibling.

“She was chirpy before entering the room, but the moment she saw didi, she stopped talking and watched him. I asked if she wanted to touch didi, and she nodded her head,” Desmond warmly shared. 

“She touched his chest with gentle strokes and smiled. I realised she understood the story of the book, and the didi we referred to when pointing at my wife’s belly is now this little precious baby. It was the best feeling to see their first meeting be a great success.”
