7 Family-Friendly Activities To Do From 18-24 April
New attractions, exciting events, and fun workshops
By Jesslyn Lye -
It's usual to feel a little sluggish after a long weekend. But don't worry, there are still plenty of fun activities that the whole family can look forward to even with the long weekend behind us.
Visit the highly-anticipated Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar, or check out the new Active Garden at Gardens by the Bay. For animal-lovers, there's also a rare chance to see some wild crocodiles at Sungei Buloh. Or if you prefer something a little more quiet, how about creating your own flower frame in a floral pressing workshop?
Take a break and spend some time outdoors in Gardens by the Bay’s new Active Garden.
Your kids will love the new interactive musical playground, where they’ll get to play with rainbow-coloured xylophones, a drum set, and other percussion instruments. Also check out the outdoor gym, where the swinging bridges and monkey bars make for a fun time.
If you’re hungry after all that running around, the expansive lawns make for a good picnic spot. Alternatively, head to the pet-friendly cafe for pastries, drinks, and over 20 seasonal gelato flavours made onsite.
Located at Gardens by the Bay, open 5am – 2am daily. The nearest carparks are the Bayfront Plaza Carpark and the Main Entrance Carpark. If you’re taking the shuttle bus, alight at the Active Garden drop-off point. Find out more here.
Create your very own pressed flower frame in this floral pressing workshop.
You’ll learn how to press flowers using a flower press or with materials that can be found at home. After which, the workshop will guide you and provide you with all the materials you need to make a unique flower frame. You can even personalise your frame with a family picture, or with a message that is dear to you.
This workshop is suitable for all ages, but adults should be prepared to assist young children in making the pressed flower frame as some of the flowers are small and fragile.
Happening 24 April 2022, 2.30pm – 4pm. Priced at $45, the workshop will take place at Habitat for Humanity Singapore, 56 Lorong 23 Geylang, #05-00, Singapore 38838. Find out more and book your slots here.
This Earth Day weekend, let your child take part in a day camp filled with activities that are both fun and sustainable.
They’ll get the chance to perform science experiments and participate in arts and crafts activities. Not only that, there will also be storytelling, yoga, and a treasure hunt. Plus, they will also get to build their own obstacle course, and join in on games using upcycled and recycled materials.
Happening on 23 or 24 April 2022, 2pm – 5pm. Priced at $150 per child, the camp will take place at Mindful Space, 10 Winstedt Road, Block A, #02-02, Singapore 227977. Find out more and book your slots here.
