The first half of the school year drew to a close last week and was marked by online personalities like Shan Wee and Kelly Latmier taking to Instagram to share their versions of celebratory posts with their kids. From cute family time captured by Claire Jedrek to local singer and songwriter Priscilla Tan getting back to work after the birth of her second child, the past week has been a very happening one for our local celebrities. Read on for more heartwarming moments that will help start your week right!
Influencer and mumpreneur Drea Chong's on a family vacay with her husband Imran Rahim and her two sons Ezra and Elia in Bali. Though, she says, "Full on time with the kids and I think I need a holiday from this holiday." We're sure parents with little ones can relate.
Her younger son Elia also spent his first birthday in Bali. Happy birthday!
Xiang Yun, Edmund Chen, and their two kids Chen Yixin and Chen Xi celebrated the latter's birthday at Chinese restaurant Feng Shui Inn, located within Resorts World Sentosa. The actor, who turns 32 this year, was presented with a dessert creation in the shape of a tree.
Mother of two, online personality, and co-founder of fitness studio Boom Singapore, Victoria Martin, celebrated her 6th wedding anniversary with her husband Bryan. They celebrated the occasion by spending some time together. Although they were away from their kids, Victoria remarked that they spent the whole time discussing their lovely children. Even when kids are out of sight, they are never really out of mind.
Talk about kicking off the June holidays on a fun note. Local radio DJ Shan Wee posted a video of his daughter having fun at the Bouncy Fun with Looney Tunes inflatable playground at Suntec City. Arya seemed to enjoy herself as she dived head first into ball pits and rolled down slides.
The play zone, located at the mall's Atrium (Tower 1 and 2), runs till June 25, with each slot offering 20 minutes of play for children aged four to 12. They can hop onto three different inflatables — the adorable Tweety Bird's Cage, Daffy Duck's Pool and Bugs Bunny's Underground Rabbit Hole.
Fitness educator and mother of two, Kareen Lai, took to Instagram to share a proud moment of her daughter rock climbing for her first major competitive event. She also reflected on how far Aasha has come, from refusing to attend competitions to participating in her first big one this year. The post was a good reminder of the importance of witnessing and celebrating your kids' milestones with them.
Talking about milestones, Kelly Latimer shared words of praise for her daughter who completed her first semester in primary school. Highlighting how well her kid has adjusted to the school system, Kelly concluded the post by reassuring that schooling is a journey the couple and their daughter embark on together.
Any attention from his daughter is good attention, at least according to presenter and emcee Claire Jedrek's husband, race-car driver Yuey Tan. She shared a series of hilarious pictures where her younger daughter Charly was seated with her feet up on her father's shoulder, writing, "Well our youngest certainly has got her way to show some affection which is SO hard to come by. For Dad, it’s a good day, he felt special, even if it means feet on his food hole."
Local singer and song-writer, Priscilla Tan, shed light on the phenomenon of "mum guilt" working mothers are faced with when they return to their careers after giving birth. In a recent post commemorating her first gig after the birth of her second child, she acknowledged the challenges that come with going back to work as the mother of a newborn and expressed gratitude for her team that supported her through it all. Priscilla's post plays a meaningful role in creating awareness for this relatable struggle working mums are often faced with.
Despite the challenges, there are instances that remind us of the beauty of family and motherhood. Lifestyle influencer Qiu Ting's recent Instagram post was a good example of this. Posting a series of ten pictures, with captions briefly detailing the story behind every one of them, from a baking session with her two daughters to Mother's Day crafts her kids made. The mother of three expressed her love and gratitude for her family and kids, and the affection displayed throughout the post was truly heartwarming.
Getting real on Instagram, mompreneur Anabel Chew reflected on her experience dealing with her daughter's meltdowns throughout her parenting journey. As frustrating as it may get, Anabel shared tips that helped her respond to her child with compassion, patience and understanding. Concluding with a comforting sentiment that this too shall pass, she reminded fellow mums to stay hopeful and rely on each other for support. Motherhood, while no easy feat, becomes more manageable when braved together.
