Marina Bay Sands’ New Family Suites Cost $1.7K A Night — Here's What You'll Get
There's a pantry stocked with almost everything a parent could need while on holiday, plus play dens for the young ones
By Karen Fong -
Marina Bay Sands' new family suites are priced from $1,700. Are they worth the price tag? Here's what a mum with two toddlers thinks.
Post-Covid and with a new baby in tow, my husband and I decided the three of us should do our first family staycation since travelling abroad was still not allowed. Pre-baby, we had both been avid travellers and had loved weekends away with just a carry-on.
But anyone with young children will know – those days are over once you decide baby is coming along. Even though we were only going to Sentosa, the sheer amount of toys, bottles, bibs, food and milk we had to bring meant a full suitcase was required. Inevitably, we still forgot something (milk bottle teats) and had to get my parents to drop them off. Since then, our travels have continued in this vein – lots of stuff plus probably having left something at home.

Marina Bay Sands' family suites come with bunk beds and kid-friendly amenities
It seems that Marina Bay Sands had this particular pain point in mind when it launched its new Sands and Paiza Family Suites. With one, two and three-bedroom configurations, the 51 suites offer families spacious accommodation along with various items that make a child’s stay in a hotel more convenient (for both them and the parents). One-bedroom suites are around 75 to 95 sqm, while two-bedders are around 145 sq m.
The young ones get a separate room with a bunk bed, TV, desk and many toys and books. The expansive bathroom also includes a step stool so they can reach the sink (something often missing) and a diaper bin. Children’s cutlery is included, as well as a wide range of child-friendly snacks in the fridge. Snacks cater to even the youngest with fruit pouches.

Meanwhile, grown-ups can enjoy amenities like their own king-sized bed with luxury bed linen from Frette, a 75-inch Samsung TV, and a two-person bathtub. Plus, a view of the Gardens by the Bay, of course.

Says a spokesperson for the hotel, “While there were rooms for families prior to renovation, our family suites are an entirely new class of suites which was introduced recently as part of our US$1.75 billion multi-year transformation journey. As an integrated resort with a wide range of visitors, we saw an opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind family experience starting from the family suites and extending to the restaurants and attractions on the property.”

Get essentials at The Pantry
What parents will love the most, is The Pantry, literally a (luxury) “supermarket” of all things parents might need when tending to their little ones on holiday. We’ve been on beach vacations where we’ve forgotten swim diapers, or run out of wipes but with access to The Pantry, this is not an issue. The hotel works with well-known brands and partners to ensure the best for their little guests.
Most parents will know these brands; Philips baby monitors, Joie car seats, Snapkiss wipes, Tiger Balm mosquito patches and Love-to-Dream swaddles, to name a few, and so you’ll be guaranteed to have the best for your child. The hotel will also source a brand they do not have if a guest requests it. All suites come with access to the Premium Services team, through whom The Pantry must be accessed. Guests can also speak to the Premium Services team about brands they might require or products and the team will work to process it.
What’s important to note is that for guests of the family suites, these items are either complimentary or can be borrowed at no extra cost, while one-time use items (which includes the Love-to-Dream swaddle that retails at approximately $50) considered complimentary. “We wanted our family travellers to arrive at Marina Bay Sands with light baggage and ease of mind. The suites are stocked with baby food, child-friendly flatware and cooking appliances,” says the spokesperson. “They may even do laundry using the washing machine, dryer and iron at The Pantry.”

Plus, activities to keep the kids busy
What the kids are bound to love most are The Play Den and The Hideaway, two newly-created spaces designed for children to spend their time in. The Play Den is managed by a passionate team of Engagement Ambassadors who guide children through daily activities from 10am to 8pm daily which include face painting, balloon sculpting and keychain making. Children over four can visit unaccompanied while younger children require a guardian with them. There are also board games and books to cater to all ages.
The Hideaway is designed for older kids to play Nintendo Switch or PlayStation. Says the hotel’s spokesperson, “As we continue to refine our family experiences and offerings, there are plans to have movie screenings at The Hideaway, introduce new educational and enriching activities at The Play Den, and transform the expansive balcony at these spaces to offer even more activities for families.”
These touchpoints do not just make life easier for families, they are designed to help them explore all that Marina Bay Sands has to offer as a family destination. Stays in the suites include access to the integrated resort’s four attractions for everyone, that means you don’t need to buy tickets to the Artscience Museum, sampan rides, Digital Light Canvas or the recently refreshed SkyPark Observatory. At select celebrity chef and signature restaurants, young guests will enjoy complimentary gifts that include a cookie decorating kit from Rise or activity books from Lavo Italian Restaurant and Rooftop Bar, all great additions to keep children entertained so parents can actually enjoy a nice meal.

Is it worth the price tag?
The price for the suites (inclusive of the attraction tickets and amenities mentioned above) starts at $1,700++. While on the high side, I feel some of this is mitigated by the attraction tickets and the level of ease offered to families with young kids. Also, this is Marina Bay Sands, and for many, it is a destination unto itself, with its iconic infinity pool and hard-to-beat views. Many view it as a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience, and now, doing that with children is made easier than ever.
For locals, it can make for a luxurious "treat" (and a chance to enjoy all the attractions with free tickets – my children love the Artscience Museum and Digital Light Canvas so any chance to do them is a bonus). For travellers, there is even more of the benefit with all the items on hand. Because, even if you do remember to bring your stroller and wipes, chances are there's going to be something else you've forgotten – and now you no longer have to worry about it.
From $1,700++ per night. Marina Bay Sands is at 10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956. Visit its website for more information.
