Would You Rather Your Kids Or In-Laws Catch You In Bed?

In this cheeky Too Tired Mums episode, we answer the impossible question — and a few more hypothetical parenting dilemmas

There are questions with easy answers. And there are questions like this: Would you rather your kids or your in-laws catch you in bed with your husband?

Suddenly, the room goes quiet. Or in our case, not quiet at all.

In this episode of Too Tired Mums, I played a mum edition of “Would You Rather” with mum-of-three Angeline Lim. The rules were simple: pick one option, explain your answer, and try not to overthink it.

Naturally, we overthought everything.

The first question was already dangerously awkward: would we rather our children walk in on us having sex, or our in-laws?

Angeline chose her in-laws without hesitation. Her reason? At least they would know she and her husband are “loving”. Also, according to her, in-laws would probably just close the door and never speak of it again.

I, on the other hand, wasn’t so sure I could ever make eye contact with my in-laws after that.

Kids, I argued, might be easier to recover from. You could turn it into an age-appropriate teachable moment. Or, if all else fails, panic and say Daddy was “checking something”.

Not our finest parenting advice… but it’s realistic.

From there, the questions became less awkward, but not necessarily easier.

Would you rather your child be clever and ruthless, or kind and average?

Would you rather your child be bullied, or be the bully?

See? Fun game. Very relaxing.

What started as a playful game quickly revealed how differently two mums can think when faced with the same impossible scenarios.

Angeline’s answers were instinctive, practical and brutally honest. Mine were probably shaped by a mix of mum guilt, idealism and the fear that every parenting outcome is somehow my fault.

But that’s the fun of “Would You Rather”, isn’t it?

The questions may sound ridiculous at first, but the moment you actually have to choose, you realise there may not be a safe answer. Especially when kids, marriage, school, bullying, kindness and in-laws are involved.

Watch the episode below and ask yourself: which side are you on?
