Everybody loves the sensation spooning into a cake, only to have chocolate oozing out the soft, fluffy sponge. Instead – or on top – of buying a gift this year, whip up this decadent and gooey chocolate molten lava cake for your significant other. Best served with a side of ice cream or fresh strawberries.
- 160 g plain flour
- 1¾ tsps baking powder
- 200 g cooking chocolate
- 200 g butter
- 8 fresh eggs
- 1½ tsps cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp bicarbonate soda
- 200 g caster sugar
- 1 tsp coffee oil
Melt chocolate, sugar and butter over double boiler.
Pour mixture into a mixing bowl and beat at speed 3 till mixture is cooled.
Add in coffee oil and ingredients. Mix in at slow speed till well mixed.
Lastly, add in eggs one by one and beat slowly till well combined.
Pour in eight greased Ramekin bowls and bake at 180 C for 10 mins.
Once it’s been baked, wait for about 5 – 10 mins then take it out.
Serve with ice cream, strawberries and dust icing sugar over generously.
