Spice lovers know how satisfying adding sambal belacan to dishes can be, especially when used as a dip. To spice up your every meal, simply prepare this aromatic and appetising sambal belacan recipe beforehand. You can even make extra and store it in a jar!

Ingredients

  • 5 long red chillies
  • 3 small green chillies OR red Thai chillies (optional)
  • Belacan, about the size of a 20 cent coin
  • 1 lime OR limau kasturi
  • Tiny bit of sugar (optional)

Steps

01. Pound the ingredients into a semi-fine paste, except the lime.

02. For a final touch, squeeze some lime on it – you can use the rinds for extra fragrance. That’s all!
