Muah Chee is undoubtedly, one of our favourite local snacks and it’s easy to see why. The combination of its doughy and chewy consistency, as well as the fragrance and crunch of the peanuts, makes for a simple but pretty amazing bite.
Here’s Fann Wong’s easy-to-follow recipe. With a bit of mixing, and only 5 mins of cooking, this will be quite an easy recipe to attempt at home!
Ingredients
- ½ cup glutinous rice flour
- 2 tsps peanut or shallot oil
- A pinch of sea salt
- ½ cup roasted peanuts, finely ground OR pre-mixed peanuts with sugar
- 2 tbsps cane sugar
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame
Steps
In a pan, mix glutinous rice flour, water and peanut/shallot oil until the batter is well combined.
Move the pan to a low fire and continue to mix for 2 to 3 mins. The batter should become a thick dough.
Set the dough aside, and combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl.
Pour the mix into the pan and make sure the dough is well coated. Divide the dough into bite-sized pieces to serve.
