No Chinese weeknight wonder is more quintessential than steamed Asian greens with char siu sauce – at once authentic, quick and easy. Besides its savouriness, you may find a hint of sweetness and even spice – a combination that hits all the necessary spots for a healthy and fuss-free dish.
Ingredients
- 350 g broccolini, trimmed
- 150 g snow peas, trimmed
- 2 baby bok choy, halved
- 1 fresh long red chilli, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsps char siu sauce
- 2 tsps sesame oil
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp peanut oil
Steps
Layer broccolini, snow peas, baby buk choy and red chilli in a large baking-paper-lined bamboo steamer. Steam, covered, over a large wok of simmering water about 5 mins or until vegetables are just tender.
Combine vegetables, char siu sauce and sesame oil in a large bowl. Heat peanut oil in a small saucepan until hot; pour oil over vegetable mixture then toss to combine. Serve sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds.
