Store-bought flavoured yoghurts are great for a healthy-ish snack on the go. However, if you are trying to eat healthier, you may want to skip those, get a plain yoghurt and create your own topping.

If you’re looking to eat something light for breakfast but find eating yoghurt too light, create your own yoghurt topping by combining cereals, fruits and seeds for a hearty and filling breakfast. This will satisfy your tummy and it only takes five minutes!


  • 4 Weet-Bix, crushed (available at supermarkets)
  • ⅓ cup pitted dried dates, chopped
  • 50 g sesame snap bars, lightly crushed
  • 2 cups Greek-style natural yoghurt
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • ⅓ cup honey

Combine Weet-Bix, dates and crushed sesame snap bars in a bowl.


Spoon yoghurt into bowls. Top with date mixture and banana. Serve drizzled with honey.
