We love a good throwback, especially one that melds versatility with functionality and—dare we say it—a hint of crazy sexy cool. Made popular by every 1990s star, from sweethearts Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt to TLC and Christina Aguilera, cargo pants are back in the hot seat once again and in variations that offer more glam than the grunge of yesteryears.
For a full Y2K mood, Blumarine went for a sheer neon look that’s pure TikTok fodder. Pair it with a sheer blouse and accessorise with a small crossbody and a pair of strappy heels to up your style ante.
Dolce&Gabbana presented a cropped version teamed with sparkly fringed boots and a glitter belt for added drama. Consider wearing yours with a pair of stilettos in fire engine-red and a leather clutch and you’ll be making heads turn.
Dior took the classic-with-a-twist route with an immaculate pair of printed denim co-ords. Dress it up with a white button-down shirt and a blazer with your favourite pair of heels and a glamorous clutch.
Who says you can’t glam up a pair of cargo pants? Make like Tom Ford and go for a gleaming satin number, styled with a bra top and layers of necklaces for an glitzy vibe.
Offering a more Mad Max take was Balmain, which showed a multi-pocketed design with lots of holding space—and movement, with exaggerated military straps trailing with every step. Up the fashion element with an artfully draped top, strappy sandals and a statement bag, all in neutral tones for a hit of Dune, or go easy with a tee and sneakers.
