The VMAs may be one of the music industry's most celebrated awards show after the Grammys, but let's just say the real winners of that night were arguably Lady Gaga's face masks — there were multiple reports on her 9 wardrobe and mask changes for the night, but guess what? We found one more mask that she sported backstage while hanging out with Ariana Grande, totalling her mask count at 10.

The 2020 MTV VMAs is the first high profile awards show to take place ever since COVID-19 took over the world, and viewers were treated to an awards show with social distancing measures in place.

The show was held over multiple stages in New York to prevent overcrowding, as well as chic, stylish face masks from some of the show's performances.

Styled by her longtime friend and collaborator Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga brought a whole new level to the term pandemic-chic with highly stylised looks that each came with their own complimentary face masks. Scroll down for a closer look at all of them!

And in her most casual and laid-back outfit of the night (she did just serve us like eight amazing looks), Lady Gaga changed into an MTV VMAs x Chromatica T-shirt by Hause of Gaga and a punk-inspired mask with spikes and chains by Michael Ngo.

Backstage Buddies

While most news media outlets were raving about the nine different masks Lady Gaga wore in public, she actually had a hidden 10th one! In a selfie with Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga was spotted in a custom metallic pink mask with cut-outs and spikes by Diana Couture.
