Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection for Valentino, titled Unboxing Valentino, is a far cry from the exuberant Pink PP collection he unveiled for Fall/Winter 2022. After all, his focus was on showing the importance of subtracting and simplifying; placing the emphasis on what’s truly essential.

Though the general colour palette muted, there are the occasional bursts of emerald green, cerulean, yellow and, of course, Valentino red for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

The result is is a colour palette dominated mostly in nude shades and grey. Meanwhile, there are a handful of the colour-saturated pieces that one has come to expect from a Piccioli outing – these are often decorated with sequins or feathers or crystals. Some pieces are also decorated with the V-festooned pattern dubbed the Valentino Toile Iconographe, which was introduced earlier in the Pre-Spring 2023 collection. To illustrate the idea of stripping back, white button-up shirts were lined with a flesh-coloured body suit.

Below, a list of buys from Valentino’s latest Spring/Summer collection that is available in stores now.
