If you’re looking for something that encompasses the best of traditional and contemporary design aesthetics, Ozel is one to watch. It’s a local modest fashion brand that focuses exclusively on batik — an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing. Pieces from its collections offer modern takes on batik and the kebaya for kids and adults. Its Raya 2025 collection is not out yet, so you might want to check back closer to Hari Raya. It also does custom orders, but do check if they are still taking orders for the Raya period since it's less than two months to Hari Raya! Pieces from its Raya 2024 collection are still available on the website.

Ozel is at #03-20 Golden Landmark Shopping Centre, 390 Victoria St, Singapore 188061. Shop the collection on their website.

Looking for Hari Raya outfits that combines traditional with modern vibes? You'd love the pieces from Natalie La Bella! The brand marries the traditional desjgns that we grew up with (think scallop lace) with modern styles. They dropped their Eid collection early February, and some of the designs come in girls' sizes, so you can wear matching outfits with your little ones! We especially love the Puspita Kurung Sulam Set, which comes with the familiar embroidery trimmings we used to wear as kids and teenagers. They also have a physical store

The Eid collection includes the Kemboja dress, a long one-piece that comes with a lace outer. Prefer to get your Raya outfit from a physical store where you can try on the pieces? Head to Butik Cinta at Joo Chiat Complex. They boast a range of designs, from printed kurung sets to ethereal dresses that will turn heads. We especially love the Samara dress, which looks like a midi kebaya, with tulle skirt trimmings. Pick the pink for feminine vibes, or black for a classic look. If you find going to the store a hassle, you'd be happy to know that they also stock the items on their TikTok Shop page!

11. Naezily

The kaftans from Naezily can be described in two words: simple and fuss-free. Their kaftans are so popular that they recently launched a double ribbon version, an upgrade from the single ribbon. Like its name, the former is affixed with two ribbon details on the chest area, perfect for those who are into the coquette trend from the 2000s that has made a comeback. The kaftan even comes with a zipper at the front, making it convenient for breastfeeding mums. Their Raya 2025 collection hasn't dropped, so you might want to check the website closer to Hari Raya. They had a collaboration with Taufik Batisah last year, so they had menswear as part of the collection. We don't know if the collab will happen again, but even if it doesn't, pieces from the last collection are still available online.

You cannot forget the weekend visitings when it comes to shopping for Raya clothes. Of course, there is nothing wrong with repeating outfits, whether from the first day or previous years, but if you're in the market for new outfits that you can wear beyond Raya, Ilaila. Their casual collection boasts two-piece coordinates that look perfect for Raya and the office with its simple style. They haven’t dropped their Raya collection, but the dress from last year's Eid collection is still available from their website!

Malaysian brand Hanya has launched their Eid collection, and we want to own every outfit in the range. The brand takes traditional meets modernity seriously, evident from their pieces: the Poppi Kurung Set gives fresh, modern vibes with the pleated fabric, frilled sleeves and cinched waist detail, while the Rhea Kurung Set reminds us of what blazers would look like if it got a traditional update. If twinning with your girl is high on your priority list, go for the Naya Kurung Set, which comes in kids' version. The brand ships to Singapore.

In fact, viscose batik became popular last year in Singapore and Malaysia. According to a shop owner we spoke with in Jakarta recently, the tulle outerwear look is popular right now. Want to get on the trend but can't afford the time to head to Indonesia to shop? Good news, this label has a Shopee Singapore store, so you can get the pieces you love without leaving the country!
