We love our designer bags, but chic arm candy doesn't always have to cost you an arm and a leg. These brands that are based in Singapore boast unique and affordable bag designs that sit under the $200 price tag.
1. Beyond The Vines
Launched at the end of 2019, multidisciplinary studio Beyond The Vines has grown to become one of the most recognised homegrown brands for bags on our shores. Its most popular offering is the Dumpling bag available in various sizes, colourways, and styles. Beyond the Dumpling, you can also shop for tote bags, laptop bags, backpacks, and even a satchel. Love oversized bags? You’ve come to the right place because most of their designs come in various sizes, and the Glazed Poofy Trapeze Bag is the perfect carryall.

2. Charles & Keith
Every Singaporean will know Charles & Keith. The local footwear and accessories brand which started in 1996 as a shoe store in Amara Hotel Singapore has since turned into an international chain, gained global recognition and for some time, was part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) conglomerate. Its designs have also been seen on many Korean celebs including South Korean girl groups Blackpink and Itzy, as well as Kaley Cuoco, Elizabeth Banks and Hayley Williams. Korean actress Han Seo-hee is currently its global brand ambassador.
Nevertheless, its range of stylish bags and shoes with a contemporary and fashion-forward aesthetic has remained affordable, with many of its bags priced under $100.

3. Pedro
Did you know that Pedro is Charles & Keith’s sister brand? While the latter offers trendy pieces, Pedro’s designs are more timeless and office-appropriate. Its URL may say pedroshoes.com but it has quite an extensive range of bags! The Demi alone comes in six variations (from micro to maxi)! There’s also the Pedro Studio collection, which offers more contemporary designs, including leather pieces — all under $200. The Pedro Icon line, on the other hand, offers trendy, statement pieces.

4. The Sophia Label
Got a penchant for unpretentious, fuss-free styles? The Sophia Label was started in 2015 by entrepreneur and mum-of-two Sophia Tan, and aims to provide vegan and cruelty-free products. She offers minimalist drawstring bucket bags, puffy designs (check out the puffy laptop bags that offer added protection), tote bags, as well as ones crafted with vegan leather. And if you’re looking for something for your little one, there are mini bags, too!

5. The Paper Bunny
This brand honestly needs no introduction. You might remember it back in 2013 as a stationery brand with cute notepads, but it has grown into a lifestyle brand with apparel and bags. The most popular range, the Puffer Swing, is almost always out of stock both online and offline. It has since expanded its bag range to include many other designs, with the latest being The Vessel in a V-shaped silhouette. Also recently launched is The Porter, which is a pet carrier! As someone who owns three Puffer Swings, wears them every weekend, and has gifted friends these bags, we’d say this deserves a spot in every woman’s bag collection. You can also get your daughter the mini for a mummy-and-me moment.

6. Good Totes
Don’t be fooled by the silhouette. The bag is so roomy that you might think they put the Undetectable Extension Charm on it. It also has an attachment where you can hook your keys (or photocards, if you’re buying this for your K-pop fan of a daughter). It makes for a great travel bag because you can wear it as a crossbody or adjust the strap to wear it as a shoulder bag. This means you don’t need to pack multiple bags to match your outfits! The colours are named after food (so cute!), and there’s also the Muffin, which is a mini version that’s similar to the Croissant.

7. In Good Company
If you have passed by or walked into the In Good Company store, you’d probably wonder why they are included in this list when their designs exude quiet luxury. While some of their bags are above $200, you can find those that are not only under $200, but also made of leather. For example, the Mini Leather Pouf Bag is a great clutch to have for corporate cocktail events. We also like the Pocket Shopper M, which looks like a legit tote bag, but is foldable. This is perfect for travel, or to use as a grocery bag, if the usual polyester shopping bags are not your aesthetic.

8. Photo Phactory
Lifestyle brand Photo Phactory draws on various aspects of Singapore’s rich heritage to create vibrant prints for its clutch bag collection — from Peranakan tiles and shophouse windows to batik prints. It has also expanded to intricate designs inspired by destinations like Barcelona, Jaipur, and Osaka.
There are even exclusive pieces created with the Singapore Airlines Business Class cushion covers, as part of an upcycling initiative. Apart from bags, the label also stocks home decor, clothes and accessories.
Prices for its clutch bags range from $35 (promo price). Shop here.
9. The Greyspace.co
Founded in 2015, homegrown brand The Greyspace.co has a crop of lifestyle products that range from lanyards and cardholders to wallets and bags designed with functionality in mind. Shop tote bags, puffer backpacks, and sling bags that are great for work and play, as well as laptop bags. There’s even a bag to hold your water bottle, but to be honest, we think the little ones would want to cop it because it looks so cute. They have men’s backpacks too, so you can shop for the whole fam.

10. Pazzion
Originally a footwear distributor for various countries across Asia-Pacific and Europe, Pazzion has made the transition into a household name that provides comfortable and stylish footwear as well as bags. You’ll find mostly work-appropriate bags here, with clean-lined silhouettes, along with some casual and party-ready options.

11. Tocco Toscano
Tocco Toscana might not sound like a local brand, but it’s a homegrown brand founded by Singaporean James Lor, though it has its roots in Italy. James Lor left Singapore to learn leather craftsmanship from a small workshop in Florence, which was called Toscano. He subsequently secured the licensing to sell Toscano’s products in Asia, before eventually buying the trademark and rebranding it to Tocco Toscano. The brand is now helmed by his son, Joseph. Since taking over, he has successfully made the brand relevant to the younger audience while not alienating its original clientele. The collection offers both modern and classic silhouettes that would appeal to all ages.

12. Quintessential
If quirky, vibrant beaded bags are your thing, check out Quintessential. The multi-label store was started in 2004, and later launched its in-house bag brand called Clutch Me by Q, subsequently re-named Quintessential.
From ultra-cute animal-inspired designs to contemporary but fun options, they’ll be sure to give your outfit extra personality. They also have Singlish Totes (basically, tote bags with Singlish words) that would make for a cute gift for your foreign friends. Better yet, wear them when you travel to confuse the locals.

13. Ruby Merlot
The brand is started by Gen Z entrepreneur Jiwahn Han, who decided to design her own bag while on a student exchange programme because she thought the tote bag she was carrying wasn’t “elevated” enough to bring to nice restaurants or after-work drinks. And as they say, the rest is history. The brand only has two designs so far (they only started this year!), but its first bag, the Classic Ruby, comes in two sizes and two finishes: faux suede and faux leather. The straps are adjustable, so you can wear it as a shoulder bag or crossbody bag.

14. The Editor’s Market
Known for apparel, Editor’s Market actually has its own bag collection. The Lane Bag was launched late July, and is honestly a silhouette most working millennial women would love. It’s roomy, has multiple inner compartments, and a top clasp closure for easy access to your belongings. It’s made of vegan leather, and has an adjustable buckle strap, so you can wear it in any style you like. Mums looking for a stylish backpack that doubles as a diaper bag will love the Renn Backpack, which is roomy and padded.

15. The Tinsel Rack
You might know this brand for having plus-size-friendly clothes, but did you know it also stocks bags? From crossbody bags, to hobo styles and even multi-pocket bags, there are plenty of designs to choose from. Each design also comes in various colours and materials. If you prefer the classy look, go for the faux leather finish. For the germaphobes who like to chuck their bags into the washing machine after every use (contrary to the care instructions), you might want to go for the canvas ones. We’re fans of the Cooper Drawstring Tote Bag, which makes for a great everyday bag, or even a diaper bag!

16. B’lou
Raffia bags might have you thinking of beachy or boho styles, but B’lou’s handmade bags give its versions a quirky, fancy update with bright colours, acrylic accents, and even ostrich feathers.
More structured pieces make for standout bags to tote to the office, or a cute addition to a breezy weekend outfit. Each bag is handmade, and prices range from about $185 to $485.
