Achieving a restful night's sleep can often feel frustratingly elusive, but just like a good set of bedsheets, your choice of sleepwear can help. The well-worn-in (perhaps holey) T-shirt and shorts combo remains a reliable choice, of course, but if you're looking for something a little more luxurious, there are plenty of options. To mark World Sleep Day (Mar 15), we round up local sleepwear brands offering comfy, quality pieces that'll aid in getting you to the land of nod.

1. Sojao

It may be best known for its bed linen, but homegrown brand Sojao also has a line-up of loungewear made from certified organic cotton loungewear that offers moisture-wicking and breathable comfort. Choose from soft cotton T-shirts in various colours to loungewear sets. The company is helmed by two Singaporeans, Priscilla Tan and Janice Tan, who started the brand after the former was unable to find affordable yet quality bedsheets.

Rawbought, the brainchild of sisters, Soukaina, Boutaina and Amira, is a pyjama and loungewear brand that both designs and manufactures its pieces, while adhering to ethical practices.

It has recently launched the Alba Washable Silk Collection, the brand’s first foray into silk. This entire range goes against the norm of silk with its low-maintenance functionality. Each piece has gone through pre-treatment to make it machine washable. Plus, the designs aren't just for bed. They're designed to be worn for other occasions too.

The collection comes in three shades — Pinot Noir, Champagne and Merlot — and in six classic silhouettes; the Camisole Top, Short Sleeve Pyjama Top, Long Trousers, Shorts, Slip Dress and the Dressing Robe.

Seleniteco was jointly founded by Nora Lim and Heng Juit Wen, former colleagues in the beauty industry. Nora, a mother to a four-year-old girl, sought products to enhance her mental and emotional well-being during nights of interrupted sleep while Juit Wen desired sophisticated yet comfortable clothing that seamlessly transitioned from naps to Zoom calls.

Sustainability is also a priority, with the duo making a conscious decision to choose fabrics and processes that pollute less and are more respectful to the environment. Its designs use thermo-regulating plant-derived fabrics, which the brand also promises to be gentle on the skin and breathable.

5 Sleebbee

Sleebbee was started by a Singaporean mum who struggled with sleep during pregnancy because of backaches and her growing belly. On a mission to find cosy pajamas to improve her sleep quality, she chanced upon bamboo fabric while shopping for her baby's clothes, ultimately choosing bamboo lyocell for its comfort and benefits, including its hypoallergenic properties.

Drawing from her inspirations and life experiences, her self-designed pieces are decked with unique prints for a fresh appeal.
