Korean celebrity weddings have always been newsworthy, and for natural reasons. We’re curious to find out about the wedding venue, how the wedding dress looks, who attended the soiree, and so on.

Over the years, there have been many unforgettable Korean celebrity weddings in South Korean showbiz. From power couples — think Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin as well as Kim Tae Hee and Rain — to brides with show-stopping dresses, these are the weddings that dreams are made of.

1. Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin

Following their popular K-drama titled Crash Landing On You, the reel to real-life celebrity couple announced their wedding which was to be held in March 2022 at Aston House at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. K-drama fans might also find the venue familiar – it served as a set for classic Korean dramas such as 2001’s HotelierThe Heirs (2013), and Triangle (2014).

The bride wore several dresses for the special occasion, including a romantic lace Vera Wang gown, with gossamer shoulder straps as well as a tulle overskirt. Read more about their nuptials here.

2. Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon

Despite their fame, singer Hyori and singer-songwriter Sang-soon held an intimate wedding in the comfort of their home in Jeju island. It was reported that Hyori wore a gown that she bought in Thailand for US$120.

3. Kim Tae-hee and Rain

Kim Tae-hee and Rain are two of the biggest names in South Korean showbiz so when they were tying the knot in 2017, all eyes were on them naturally. Instead of going big, the celebrity couple opted for modest, low-key nuptials (that cost approximately S$1,600) at the Gahoe-dong Cathedral in Seoul.

The Stairway to Heaven star donned a lace knee-length dress designed by her stylist, complemented by a simple veil and a posy. Tae-hee, who holds a bachelor's degree in fashion design from Seoul National University, is also said to have contributed to the dress's design.

4. Lee Da-in and Lee Seung-gi

After dating for two years, actors Lee Da-in and Lee Seung-gi decided to tie the knot. In April 2023, the lovebirds held a luxurious wedding at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas hotel in Gangnam. The bride looked regal in a diamond tiara and sparkly gown while the groom looked dapper in a black tuxedo.

It was a star-studded ceremony that saw guests like actors Lee Dong-wook, Yoo Yeon-seok and Lee Se-yong, host-comedian Kang Ho-dong, and various K-pop idols.

The pair welcomed their first child on Feb 5 this year.

5. Lee Na-young and Won Bin

In yet another small-scale wedding, Autumn In My Heart actor Won Bin wedded actress Lee Na-young in his hometown of Jeongseon, South Korea. In fact, the ceremony was held at a bed and breakfast place with only 50 of their family members and friends present. The awe-inspiring backdrop of meadows and nature was a major bonus!

6. Choi Ji-woo

Few would announce their wedding within short notice. Winter Sonata actress Choi Ji-wo only broke her wedding news on her Instagram hours before the joyous occasion in 2018. As her husband is not a public figure, they decided on a private ceremony with only family members present. The veteran actress wore a long-sleeved lace A-line gown perfect for her goddess-like image.

7. Gianna Jun and Choi Jun-hyuk

Top actress and La Mer’s brand ambassador Gianna wedded businessman Jun Hyuk in 2012. She wore a shimmery gown by Lebanese designer Reem Acra for her wedding at The Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Their wedding was a grand affair and it was reportedly attended by over 600 guests.

8. Kim Dong-wook and Stella Kim

Last year, Coffee Prince actor Dong-wook tied the knot with non-celebrity wife Stella Kim. Dong Wook was decked in a classic black suit while Stella donned a floor-sweeping off-shoulder gown, making the ceremony look extra dreamy and fairytale-like. They exchanged vows at the Myeongdong Cathedral.
