Netflix Has Dropped A Major ‘All Of Us Are Dead’ Season 2 Reveal
Here’s what happened to Cheong-san
By Michelle Lee -
It’s been a looonnnggg time coming. Three years after hit zombie K-drama series All of Us Are Dead ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving us with a huge void and wondering about the fate of beloved characters, Netflix has finally confirmed that production on Season 2 is officially underway.
Season 1 closed with Nam On-jo (Park Ji-hu), Lee Su-hyeok (Park Solomon), and the surviving gang sneaking back to the destroyed Hyosan High after spotting a fire on the school’s rooftop. There, they encounter their now half-zombie, half-human (aka hambie) friend Choi Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun). She shares that there are others like her, then abruptly leaps off the roof after saying that “they’re here.”
Guess who’s back in the cast of All Of Us Are Dead Season 2
According to Netflix, returning as survivors of the original Hyosan outbreak are Park Ji-hu, Cho Yi-hyun, Park Solomon, and wait for it — Yoon Chan-young. And this can only mean that...
CHEONG-SAN IS ALIVE.
The last we saw of Cheong-san (Yoon Chan-young), he got bitten by Gwi-nam and sacrificed himself by pulling the latter off the top of the construction site right as the military bombed the area. His body was never recovered, leaving his fate a mystery. Of course, we kind of already suspected he might still be alive but it’s now official: Cheong San is back.
But he may not be entirely human. Now that Cheong San has presumably become a hambie, the big question is: how will this impact his friendship (and what appeared to a budding romance) with On-jo?
This season, the crew is also joined by some fresh — and very familiar — faces: There’s Lee Min-jae (Weak Hero: Class 2) and Yoon Ga-i (Undercover High School). And fresh from another hot K-drama thriller Squid Game 2 and 3: Kim Si-eun and Roh Jae-won.
If you need a recap, Kim Si-eun played Player 095, Kim Young-mi, who got shot in Season 2’s Mingle Game after getting shoved out the door by Myung-gi. Meanwhile, Roh Jae-won played the villainous Player 124, Nam-gyu (aka Thanos’ sidekick).
The plot for All Of Us Are Dead Season 2
According to Netflix, the plot now centres around On-jo, now a university student in Seoul grappling to move on from the traumatic loss of friends and family. But then a new wave of infection suddenly hits Seoul, and she’s yet again caught up in a deadly fight for survival — this time without the people she once depended on.
On-jo forms friendships with her university seniors Yong Ma-ru (Lee Min-jae), So Ju-ran (Kim Si-eun), and Lee Jong-a (Yoon Ga-i) — a group that has found ways to survive amidst the zombie apocalypse. Meanwhile, Roh Jae-Won’s gone from antagonist Nam-gyu in Squid Game to Han Du-seok, a team leader within the National Intelligence Service, who’s set to bring added tension to the story.
Season 2 doesn’t have an official release date just yet — so stay tuned for updates right here.
All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is again directed by Lee JQ (Daily Dose of Sunshine) and Kim Nam-su, with the script by returning writer Chun Sung-il (King the Land).
