It's the latest concept by Shipping Container Hotel, which has made a name for itself for roving hotel pop-ups at the likes of Downtown East and Haw Par Villa. Named Garden Pod, it's nestled within the unique foliage of Serene Garden, which is steps away from The Meadow and Bayfront MRT station, and set against a panoramic view of the city skyline of downtown Marina Bay.

The design's by President’s Design Award winner Laud Architects, with a pinwheel layout that allows for elevated views of the surrounding gardens from the bedrooms, through expansive glass windows.

There are four exclusive two-storey suites in total, all of which occupy 70 sq m of floor space over two levels, and come with a spiral staircase connecting the two floors as well as private outdoor patios.

You'll get unobstructed views of the Singapore skyline and verdant greenery of Serene Garden with the Maple Duplex Suite, while the Jasmine Duplex Suite boasts a spectacular view of the sunset against the backdrop of the Singapore skyline and the Gardens.

The Juniper Duplex Suite is nestled amongst bamboo and bonsai trees, and then there's the private Bamboo Duplex Suite surrounded by tall bamboo plants. Each suite can house four occupants.

There's a living room as well as a kitchen and ensuite bathroom in each suite. Amenities include a king bed and a Murphy queen bed, a kitchen hob and downdraft hood, a bar fridge and microwave oven, indoor dining seating, as well as outdoor dining tables and chairs on the patio. If you fancy a barbeque, an outdoor electric BBQ grill will be available upon request. And yes, there's WiFi.

Garden Pod also features a room fragrance from Maison de L'Asie, a local luxury niche fragrance house. Its delicate floral and tea scent notes are an ode to old Singapore.

Built with sustainability in mind, the upper levels of the suites are constructed from 40-foot repurposed shipping containers, while photovoltaic panels on the rooftop harvest clean solar energy that contributes up to 80 per cent of the hotel's needs.

You'll find also drinking glasses and terrarium displays created by Singaporean artisans from Soda Lemon, a retail brand that offers handcrafted upcycled glass products — the compost within was produced using upcycled horticulture and landscaping waste.

Unique upcycled coasters are provided for guests’ use during their stay, created by The Plastic Project Singapore to give unwanted plastics a new lease of life.

Rates start from $450 a night. Visit Gardens by the Bay's website or Shipping Container Hotel's website to book or for more information.
