Park Bo-gum is a familiar face to anyone who is a fan of Korean dramas and movies. The 31-year-old actor has had many notable roles, with the most recent one being When Life Gives You Tangerines, in which he is acting alongside IU.
Park Bo-gum made his acting debut in 2011, and has acted in numerous dramas and movies since, ranging from historical dramas to thrillers and even sci-fi. Here are 10 of Park Bo-gum's movies and TV shows — and even variety shows — you might enjoy watching.
1. When Life Gives You Tangerines

Think it's your standard rom-com based on the poster? You couldn't be more wrong. If you haven’t already started watching this, get your tissue box ready, because you're in for a crying fest. Every episode will leave you heartbroken, and just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, the next episode outdoes the previous one on the heart-wrenching meter. We suggest not watching this in public because you will cry, especially if you're a mother (we won't say more because it will be a spoiler). Bo-gum and IU have really good chemistry in this show, which to be honest, only makes every sad scene sadder.
Watch it on Netflix.
2. Record of Youth

If you're not into unrealistic dramas and prefer the slice-of-life genre, you might enjoy this. This drama follows the story of three people in the entertainment industry, as they navigate their careers and lives while overcoming family issues and work challenges. Bo-gum plays a model who dreams of becoming a top actor, while Park So-dam acts as a makeup artist who is also his fan. The drama is a bit of a slow burn, but you might find yourself relating to some of the issues, such as workplace drama and relationship problems. If you're a fan of Byeon Woo-seok, you'll be happy to know that he is the second male lead in this drama.

3. Remember You

Also known as Hello Monster, this is one of the most underrated K-dramas. It revolves around the story of a criminal profiler (Seo In-guk) who tries to solve a case that triggered a buried memory. However, the case seems to be connected to other cases, so he teams up with Detective Cha Ji-an (Jang Na-ra) to solve them. What he doesn’t know is that Ji-an has been investigating him because of the mysterious circumstances in which his father was murdered, and his younger brother disappeared when he was young. Those events happened after his father was embroiled in a case involving a criminal, Lee Jun-ho. We're not revealing Bo-gum's character, as it could be a major spoiler.

4. Reply 1988

You can't claim to be a K-drama fan if you don't know Reply 1988. This iconic drama won the hearts of South Koreans for its nostalgic vibes. It stars Hyeri as Duk-sun, Ryu Jun-yeol as Jung-hwan, Ko Kyung-pyo as Sun-woo, Lee Dong-hwi as Dong-ryong, and Bo-gum as Taek. The quintet comprises childhood friends and neighbours who are high school students (with the exception of Taek, who dropped out and is a famous Go player). This drama, which depicts the familiar struggles of growing up and familial ties, will leave you in stitches in one scene, and in tears the next.

5. Love in the Moonlight

Didn't catch the drama when it was at the peak of its popularity in 2016? You can still watch it on Viu or Netflix. This coming-of-age drama cemented Bo-gum's status as a fan favourite, following his surge in popularity after Reply 1988. He acts as the Crown Prince of the Joseon dynasty who wants to break away from his routine. Hong Ra-on (Kim You-jung) is a woman who disguises herself as a man and provides relationship counselling. One day, moneylenders sell her to the Office of Eunuch Attendants to claim their debt. As her path crosses with the Crown Prince, he finds himself falling for her.

6. Encounter

This top-rated drama sees Bo-gum playing an ordinary man who falls in love with the daughter of a politician (Song Hye-kyo). The latter, Cha Soo-hyun, is in a marriage of convenience with the heir to a conglomerate. However, she files for divorce after finding out he has an affair. She flies to Cuba for a business trip, and meets Kim Jin-hyeok (Bo-gum's character). After their brief encounter, Jin-hyeok returns to Seoul to work in a hotel and finds out that Soo-hyun is actually its CEO.

7. Young Actors' Retreat

While this is not one of Bo-gum's movies or dramas per se, it's worth a watch, as you can see how he acts around his good friends, i.e. the cast of Love in the Moonlight. This reality TV series features the cast members of three popular K-dramas, including The Sound of Magic and Itaewon Class, playing games and even running food trucks. Fun fact: the cast of Love in the Moonlight remain good friends today, and they even recently appeared on the first episode of The Seasons, a music talk show, that Bo-gum is currently hosting.

Imagine you're a top star, and you're given the chance to live as someone else, in a place where no one recognises you, for 72 hours. In this reality TV series, Bo-gum, Ji Chang-wook, Jennie and other stars were given that chance, as they travelled to other countries to live as another person (Gabriel) for three days. Bo-gum takes on Dublin, Ireland, to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a musician. Already adept at playing the piano, he had no problems taking on the role of a choir leader. Watch for his cute interactions with the locals.
