Why Single's Inferno's Lee Jin-Seok Is Total Husband Material
Consider this our Jin-seok appreciation post
By Estelle Low and Michelle Lee -
Single's Inferno has wrapped up its third season, and the Internet's still fired up about the Netflix dating show that places hot, single South Koreans on a secluded island to find "The One".
While the spotlight was often on professional basketball player Lee Gwan-hee, it was fellow contestant Lee Jin-seok who captured our attention for being an absolute green flag. The 31-year-old bakery-cafe owner became both a judge and fan favourite for his candour, witty humour, and solid, reliable nature.
For all the qualities listed above and more, we're breaking down the reasons why Lee Jin-seok makes for total husband material in our books. Totally sharing this with our single friends, and married ones too.
You know, husbands can always do better.
*SPOILER ALERT* Proceed at your own risk.
1. He set his mind on Ahn Min-young from the start, and stayed (mostly) committed throughout
The keyword here is “mind”, not “heart”. Marriage is more about commitment than love if you ask us. And there's nothing sexier than a man of conviction. While Jin-seok was briefly interested in newcomer Cho Min-ji, (after Min-young had expressed her interest in getting to know other guys), he ultimately stuck to his guns and chose Min-young at the end of the show.
2. He did not play games, or play hard to get
Many contestants kept their potential love interests vague or played hard to get, which makes for great TV but not so much if you're looking for a real-life partner. He was straightforward and made his decision clear to everyone in the show, not just Min-young. No fudging, no dithering. There was no doubt in everyone’s minds who he was after. Having a life partner who's a champ in expressing his feelings is half the battle won.
3. He is gracious and open-minded
When Min-young confessed her frustrations about everyone pairing them together (honestly, we don't see why that was a big deal) and expressed her intent to chat with the other guys, Jin-seok accepted and acknowledged her POV without question. Despite Min-young giving mixed signals, and showcasing passive-aggressiveness and guilt-tripping tendencies, he kept his cool while dealing with her antics without once blowing up. We love a mature, stable guy like that.
4. He shows that platonic friendships are possible
As the season progressed, Jin-seok struck up an unexpected friendship with female contestant Yun Ha-jeong. He was a solid confidante to her, with the two seen engaging in conversations and supporting each other when their romantic interests were occupied with others. And even then, never once did he incite doubt in Min-young. That’s a rare trait to be cherished.

5. He's also great friend material
What else explains why he was that dependable guy almost everyone turned and listened to during their time at Inferno? This includes his friendships with Ha-jeong and Choi Hye-seon, with even Yoo Si-eun turning to him for advice on approaching her love interest. In our opinion, it’s a blessing to have a husband who’s also your best friend.
Plus, Jin-seok is not just good with the ladies — he's a guy's guy, too. Let's not forget how Gwan-hee requested for Min-ji to go to Paradise with Jin-seok, as he was sure the latter would be honest with him about the date.
6. He knows how to have fun, and has a great sense of humour
We saw this from the way he teased Min-young after the tables were turned in his favour (thanks Min-ji), while always keeping within the lines. Even towards the end, he refrained from revealing his decision to Min-young, just to leave her hanging (in a thrilling way).
It's also undeniable that the man's got comedic timing (or the help of Netflix's editing whizzes), from his witty one-liners to hilarious comments during tense moments. What can we say, humour is sexy.
7. He's an assured man
How we love a man who’s true to himself and doesn’t see a need to fake it or prove anything to others. Remember how he gave up during the running race with such dignity? NGL, we were living for his spot-on, no-holds-barred remarks throughout the show. #Truth. In fact, he deserves to be a commentator for Season 4.
8. He's a hands-on boss
In the show, Jin-seok shared that he owns three bakery-cafes in Daegu, South Korea, and does everything from administrative work to being a barista to cake decorating. It might not be strictly related to dating, but the fact that he cares enough to be involved with various aspects of his business gets a thumbs up from us. Plus, that could also translate to other parts of his life, including his family, home and finances.
