K-drama 'Squid Game' Will Return For Season 2, Says The Show's Creator
You can expect protagonist Gi-hun (Lee Jung Jae) to be back
A second season of Netflix's original K-drama, Squid Game, is likely on the cards, as confirmed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, its director and writer.
The massively popular series follows 456 cash-strapped participants who risk their lives to play various children's games with a deadly twist, in hopes of landing a colossal cash prize.

In an interview with the Associated Press during a red carpet event in Los Angeles, Hwang shared, "There’s been a lot of demand and pressure and love for a second season,” he shared. “It almost feels like we don’t have a choice. The next season is in my head right now. At this moment, I’m in the planning stages. It’s too early to say when and how it will come out though. But I can promise this. The main character, Gi Hun (played by actor Lee Jung Jae), will be back and do something for the world.

In an earlier interview with Times, he also toyed with the idea of exploring "the issue with police officers", and would especially involve a familiar character from season one: the Front Man. He added, “While I was writing season one, I thought about the stories that could be in season two if I get to do one – one would be the story of the Front Man."
However, a Netflix spokesperson told CNBC that a second season of the show is “in discussions, but not confirmed yet.”
