  • Cucumber

Have your veggies to the rescue for painful spots of sunburn! Gently rub the affected area with sliced cucumber which can cool the burn and reduce swelling. Cucumbers are rich in natural botanical compounds that consist of antioxidant and analgesic (acting to relieve pain) properties.

Alternatively, you can blend or ground the cucumber slices to a pulp and slather on skin to soothe and ease the pain. 2. Oatmeal

Here's an unexpected take on your relaxing bath salts, grind up some oatmeal in a food processor and add it to your next cool bath. It has a free radical fighting antioxidant that can help treat the burn.

This trick has been used for years and the best part about oatmeal is that it's free of chemicals. This humble ingredient can also help soothe the itching sensation from mild eczema and bug bites. 3. Green Tea

Leave a clean cloth in a pot of green tea and then use it for a compress for your sunburns. The tea leaves contain ingredients that can help reduce any inflammation on your skin.

Besides soothing skin, green tea can also protect your skin from ultraviolet radiation damage and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on your skin. 4. Vinegar

The acetic acid in white vinegar can help to soothe pain, itching and inflammation on your burns. Soak a few sheets of cotton wool in vinegar and then leave them on the affected areas till they're dry. 5. Mint

Cook up a peppermint concoction and then gently rinse the affected area with the chilled mixture. The results will be cool and soothing, perfect to ease the scorch of your burns.

Pepperming and mint oil can help alleviate painful headaches too!
