Star Awards 2024 Celebs Outfits Red Carpet

Every year, the Star Awards promises a visual feast, and this year was no different. The annual awards ceremony sees the top local celebrities and guest celebrities from overseas – this year, we’ve got Charmaine Sheh, Chen Bolin and SHINee’s Onew! – coming together to celebrate the top performers in the entertainment scene.

Apart from the announcements of Best Actor/Actress, and Top 10 celebrities, we, of course, have been anticipating the red carpet outfits. Here are some of the looks we like so far.

Jesseca Liu and Jeremy Chan

Even if she weren’t handed a bouquet on the red carpet, Jesseca was already carrying flowers with her shawl of white rosettes. She paired the larger-than-life accessory with a black strapless dress (the ensemble is from Nicole Felicia Couture, which The Ivory Bridal carries) and silver heels. Her husband Jeremy matched her colour palette with a relaxed white Dolce & Gabbana suit. While his outfit may look minimalist, the highlight of his outfit is the Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium Rainbow timepiece, which costs a cool $99,000. He also wore Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

Rebecca, who just gave birth in February, marked her return to the red carpet with a lime green cape dress by Gucci. For accessories, she kept it simple with a pair of long earrings and a bangle.

Felicia Chin

Felicia accentuated her tall stature with a floor-length Alex Perry gold sequined stretch-tulle gown that made her look like a million dollars. She revealed she was also wearing The Canary Diamond Co, which she joked that she wanted to bring home because “they cost as much as my house”.

Zoe Tay and Chen Han Wei

While a number of celebrities were in black, ‘Queen of Caldecott Hill’ Zoe Tay stepped out with a bang in a striking red dress adorned with a graphic motif. The dress is vintage Tom Ford, which she paired with Christian Louboutin heels.

Chen Hanwei went for a suit from Giorgio Armani, with a shimmering lapel that elevated the all-black ensemble.

Desmond Tan

Desmond looked suave in a three-piece Louis Vuitton suit (we have to give him props for opting for a three-piece in this hot weather!), with a cropped jacket sporting the brand’s Damoflage print that lends a trendy touch. He completed his outfit with a Panthere de Cartier brooch and a timepiece from Zenith Watches, for whom he was appointed Friend of the Brand for last year. The Zenith DEFY Skyline Tourbillon watch that he’s sporting costs a whopping US$57,100.

Chantalle Ng

We must say, Chantalle’s crop-top-and-shorts combo with a pearl dress overlay by Sportmax provides a breath of fresh air to the evening gowns and dresses we saw on the red carpet. She took the sartorial factor up a notch with knee-high open-toed boots — and floor-length hair extensions that she wore in a loose braid.

Hazelle Teo

Is she wearing pants? Is she wearing a skirt? Well, both! We absolutely love Hazelle’s choice of pants with floor-sweeping train, contrasted with a blinged-out bustier top. The glam doesn’t stop there – her rose hair accessory added the finishing touch, making her look luxe from head to toe.

Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu

We love how effortlessly pretty Joanne’s outfit was. The actress donned a black Givenchy dress with a lace panel and slit and topped it off with sheer gloves. But what made her outfit look put-together were the details like the belted and bangles, that took her outfit from dinner party to red carpet-ready. Husband Qi Yuwu gave the classic tux a new look with a dark green velvet number.

Carrie Wong

It seems like black was the colour of choice for a number of celebrities this year! Carrie’s black outfit comprised a neckline-plunging strapless dress by YSL, with matching black gloves, as well as glittering jewellery from Cartier.

Hong Hui Fang

Hui Fang looked ultra-sleek with her silver hair, and power suit combo. The veteran actress pulled a girl boss look with a black blazer with white accents – including a giant rosette. The wide-leg pants gave the outfit a relaxed finish.

Jernelle Oh

Jernelle Oh, nominated for Best Actress this year, was one of the first artistes to walk the red carpet, and she opened the show with a bang. She wowed in a sparkly gold and white ballgown, which honestly reminded us of one of Taylor Swift’s “Enchanted” dresses.

Elvin Ng

After the pink ombre suit that got him all the ‘bandung’ jokes last year, Elvin kept it neutral with a khaki-coloured double-breasted suit from Dolce & Gabbana’s SS24 “Stile” Collection this year. Plus, added a dash of sexy with a see-through top, as well as a floral brooch for an eye-catching accent.

Romeo Tan

Who says a black suit would look boring? Romeo jazzed his up with a printed shirt that featured a plunging neckline, and a gorgeous Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger Bird on a Rock brooch. We also love that he left his blazer unbuttoned for a more relaxed silhouette.

Rui En

The actress opted for a simple black off-shoulder number by Solace London, but the details are in the accessories. She wore a full set of Cartier jewellery, which formed the centrepiece of her outfit.
