Huat Kueh, or ‘prosperity cake’, is typically seen during Chinese New Year – but hey, there's no rule saying that you can't sink your teeth into these soft and fluffy cakes on non-festive occasions! You don't need an oven to make these cakes either. The kids might enjoy watching the cakes "blossom" in the steamer too!

The year of the biggest Gula Melaka craze may be over, but one can never get enough of the sweet and salty, caramelised taste of palm sugar. Fann’s recipe combines that with the familiar pandan cake. It's sweet, airy and moist — perfect for tea... or any time of the day, really!
