What’s a really intimidating place scarier than Halloween night in Resorts World Sentosa? Honestly, it’s not the cemetery, it’s not the conference room or boardroom. As the mysteries of adulthood has it, the gym is the scariest place.
Who knows why, but fully grown adult men and women alike get the jitters when they go to the gym. Whether it’s some kind of stage or performance anxiety, self-consciousness, the silliest fear of looking stupid, or (on a more serious note) deep-seated triggers and traumas, the gym is really not an easy place to be.
And if you signed up for a membership with one of those large gym chains hoping to force yourself to show up for gym as part of your New Year’s resolution, you probably resigned yourself to the treadmill, elliptical climber, or the stationary bike.
So, when private gym pods started sprouting all over the country in the past 2 pandemic-ridden years, these gyms really caught my attention. While most of such gym pods are packed with sweaty teenage boys pumping their muscles, there’s this pretty laid back and quiet private gym pod called MyGymLab located in the idyllic Beauty World Centre.
Location wise, MyGymLab is tucked away in a quaint corner of the old school Beauty World Centre shopping mall – away from prying eyes and rowdy crowds.
The overall vibe is nice and female-friendly with softer hues of lilac, green on the exterior. On the inside, there’s a cheery tropical rainforest mural, and an array of lighter weights, mats, and core-balancing Bosu balls and discs etc.
