Born in Urumchi in Xinjiang, Dilraba is a graduate of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The actress is of Uighur ethnicity, which is one of the most persecuted groups in China.
Dilraba’s 31 million followers on Weibo make her the most popular minority star in China.
She first starred in a TV drama Anarhan in 2013, and rose to fame playing the role of Fuqu in Swords of Legends in 2014. She also starred in the TV blockbuster Eternal Love this year and the variety show Keep Running.
Dilraba clinched a number of awards such as 'Golden Eagle Goddess' at the prestigious China TV Golden Eagle Awards this year. It was one of three main national award ceremonies that recognize excellence in Chinese TV.
