Jeju, often referred to as the "Hawaii of Korea," is a popular destination for families seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure. With its stunning natural landscape (pretty volcanic rocks everywhere!), delicious cuisine (super fresh seafood), and kid-friendly attractions, Jeju's the perfect place for you and your kiddos.

Pro tip: rent a car or hire a private driver in Jeju!

After having been to Jeju more than five times in my life, I’d say that I highly recommend this pretty island to folks of all ages.

Renting a car is highly, highly recommended. It is affordable, and you can expect to pay around S$50 - S$80 a day for a rental car. In fact, I recently paid around S$300 for a Tesla (inclusive of a full Collision Damage Waiver) for a four-day trip. Divide it by four people, and it comes up to around S$18 per person per day!

If no one in your family drives or if you don’t have the confidence to drive on the right side of the road, hiring a private driver is your next best bet — but be expected to shell out an astonishing S$200 - S$300 per day for an eight-hour booking.

And forget about trying to catch the public transport in Jeju — don’t waste your holiday waiting for buses (think, more than an hour’s wait time). There are also no trains here.

With that, let’s talk about the 10 Best Kid-Friendly Things To Do In Jeju, South Korea

The maze consists of six zones: The Missing Worker, Wailing Jail, Golem's Canyon, Erupting Volcano, Endless Journey and Rapid Stream.

But be warned — this activity is intense! When I tried out this maze, I was unexpectedly left breathless (and questioning my fitness) by the end of it all. If your kiddos have unlimited energy, this is definitely the place to, um, utilise their strengths.

West Jeju

6. Flower Bird Park

For a truly memorable experience in Jeju, I highly recommend visiting Jeju’s Flower Bird Park. With an affordable entrance fee for under S$20, you can enjoy an intimate encounter with a variety of animals.

You can also feed animals like alpacas, rabbits, fish, horses, and birds. The best part? You can get incredibly close and even pet many of these animals (under the supervision of staff, of course).

During my visit, I was fortunate enough to get extremely close to the park's free-roaming penguin (though I refrained from touching it). If your family is passionate about animals, you'll easily spend an entire afternoon immersed in this delightful park.

Don't miss the interactive bird show, where you can witness the incredible abilities of these feathered friends. After the show, you'll have the unique opportunity to hold a bird and capture a memorable photo.

North Jeju

9. Mysterious Road

Known for its optical illusion, the Mysterious Road or Dokkaebi Road appears to slope uphill, defying the laws of gravity.

Watch in amazement as objects roll uphill instead of down, creating a truly perplexing experience. At this road, many visitors turn off their cars, pour water on the floor, or roll bottles to witness this gravity-defying phenomenon firsthand.

This illusion is caused by the surrounding terrain, which tricks the eye into perceiving the road as tilted in the opposite direction. The surrounding hills and valleys create a visual distortion, making the road appear to slope uphill even though it's actually level.
