The Single’s Inferno 5 Ending Had Us Screaming… And Not In a Good Way
Inferno may be called the “hottest island”, but season five’s finale was underwhelmingly lukewarm

Single’s Inferno Season 5 has officially wrapped (with the opening soundtrack still stuck in our heads), during which we got plenty of laughs, frustrations, and heart-fluttering moments that had us swooning — and occasionally facepalming.
But after all that build-up (and a few late-night binge sessions), the finale felt rushed and honestly, meh. Here’s why, from the missed moments to the lingering questions that left us wanting more from Single’s Inferno 5’s ending episodes.
Plus, scroll down for the final couples who made it out of Inferno together!
- 1. We were totally robbed of the campfire reveal
- 2. Min-gee and Seung-il’s arc was cut short in the final two episodes
- 3. The trailer’s steamy bed scenes teased drama but left us hanging. And what about the flower ring moment?
- 4. Ha-eun deserved more screentime
- So, who were Single’s Inferno 5’s final couples?
- Kim Min-gee and Song Seung-il
- Park Hee-sun and Lim Su-been
- Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung-hun
- Lee Joo-young and Kim Jae-jin
1. We were totally robbed of the campfire reveal
We were waiting for the iconic campfire scene where everyone spills their age and background, but nope. Instead, only Mina Sue and Sung-hun’s ages and careers were revealed. Sure, we already knew most of the deets from the Paradise dates, but it’d have been fun to see the cast’s reactions.
Did nobody apart from Go-eun already know who I-geon was, considering he was an actor? Were any of them unsurprised about Min-Gee’s background since she’s a famous athlete who has appeared on variety shows? On socials, it’s also been revealed that Hee-sun, Mina, and Go-eun already knew each other as they were all pageant queens.
Most of all, we missed out on everyone’s reaction to Hee-sun’s impressive background, especially since they all pegged her as a “princess” in this unreleased clip. A big missed moment.
2. Min-gee and Seung-il’s arc was cut short in the final two episodes
The contestants went on a final hat-snatching game that saw one male and female contestant teaming up, and Sung-hun and Min-gee eventually winning. And while it did provide affirmation for Sung-hun and Mina’s relationship after he chose her for a special meal date, whatever happened to Min-gee’s date? She likely picked Seung-il, but that moment never made it to our screens.
Speaking of which, we sure wish Min-gee and Seung-il had more airtime in the last two episodes. Their conversation about Min-gee and Su-been sharing a bed — like how they even brought it up, and Seung-il’s reaction — was barely shown. And that part about how he revealed it to Hee-sun? That was a weird move, and we’d like to have seen him explaining that bit.
3. The trailer’s steamy bed scenes teased drama but left us hanging. And what about the flower ring moment?

One of the sauciest moments in the Singles Inferno S5 trailer showed a couple cuddling under the sheets. We now know it was Min-gee and Su-been on the bed, and the reason was surprisingly vanilla: they had simply fallen asleep while chatting. Yet the trailer spliced in a guy saying, “Seriously, these cameras. F**k this place.” Was that edit intentional? And what exactly was happening during that convo? We need closure.
Another scene that never made it out of the trailer was the one of a female contestant putting on a daisy ring on a guy, whom eagle-eyed netizens have deduced to be Min-gee and Seung-il, thanks to her nails and his bangle. It’s a sweet moment that would have added to their storyline, but guess we’ll never find out.
4. Ha-eun deserved more screentime
Lee Ha-eun was introduced alongside I-geon as game-changers, but she didn’t shake things up as expected. While I-geon got plenty of screen time with his swoon-worthy moments alongside Go-eun, Ha-eun mostly appeared to fuel Go-eun’s storyline — showing up to spark jealousy whenever I-geon was seen spending time with her.
She expressed interest in Jae-jin, yet we never saw her meaningfully connect with anyone else. So what exactly was she doing with all that time on Inferno? She ultimately left the island alone, but we love her bright, vivacious character and would have loved to see more.
So, who were Single’s Inferno 5’s final couples?
Kim Min-gee and Song Seung-il
Ever since their first Paradise date, Min-gee and Seung-il had been steady. Sure, there was a bit of drama and uncertainty along the way with Seung-il showing interest in Mina Sue, and Min-gee in Su-been, but they worked through it and eventually became a couple. Their playful banter was fun to watch, giving off major “old couple” vibes.
Park Hee-sun and Lim Su-been
We were definitely rooting for this pair, especially the shy Hee-sun, who had her eyes on Su-been from the very start. Over time, Su-been slowly warmed up and ultimately decided to focus on her after all the drama with Mina Sue. Not going to lie — Hee-sun seemed a bit bland at first, mostly shown giggling during their conversations (no thanks to selective editing). But later, we got to see more of their candid chats, and honestly, we couldn’t get enough!
Their little couple moments, like putting on facial masks and opening up to each other, were sweet to watch. It was also satisfying to watch them clear up misunderstandings, like after Hee-sun felt hurt when Seung-il spilled about Su-been and Min-gee sharing a bed. The way they talked things out with honesty made their connection feel real and heartwarming.
Kim Go-eun and Woo Sung-min
After a long, drawn-out love quadrangle, Go-eun finally chose Sung-min to leave Inferno with (despite all the sizzling moments with I-geon). The two clearly clicked, and Go-eun liked how calm and at ease she felt around him. She also appreciated his small, thoughtful gestures, a reminder that it’s often the little things that matter most.
And let’s not forget the episode that showed them conversing for hours, a sign of their compatibility despite only knowing each other for a few days.
Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung-hun
Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung-hun final couple Single’s Inferno 5
While he wasn’t originally at the top of her list, Lee Sung-hun (Sam Lee)’s steadfastness eventually won over Choi Mina Sue, who had spent much of the early episodes juggling a few different guys. Watching their final scenes together, especially Mina Sue getting shy during their first official date, instead of friend-zoning him like in the early episodes, was both cute and heartwarming.
Lee Joo-young and Kim Jae-jin
Despite Hyun-jae being in the picture, we had no doubt that Joo-young and Jae-jin would be endgame, with their wholesome chemistry being undeniable. Jae-jin’s quiet thoughtfulness, like snapping a photo of a flower she loved even when she wasn’t around, let them connect without any pressure. And when he nearly shed tears during their boat date? Yeah, our hearts melted.
Add in the fact that they’re both artsy— her in craft design and him in modern dance — and their bond felt effortless and natural.
