As we draw near to the end of the year and start prepping for the year-end school holidays, you may be wondering what to do with the kids for a whole six weeks. Fret not — help is here for November. Festivities this month include Deepavali, the Singapore Red Cross International Bazaar, and an initial trickling of Christmas offerings. From Disney to Warner Brothers, dance and theatrical performances to charity events, sustainable workshops and slime stations, there’s got to be something here that will catch your attention.
Deepavali Celebrations @ Little India
Even though they’ve been lit up for a while now, the streets in Little India seem to get more vibrant and ‘buzzy’ as we near Deepavali. This year’s actual Diwali celebrations will take place from 10-15 November, when the Hindu festival of lights is celebrated by devotees with family get-togethers, prayers, gifts, feasts and even more dazzling lights.
Check out the diverse line-up of weekend programmes organised by the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) at their annual Deepavali Open House celebrations, or soak up the delicious festivities by visiting the Deepavali Food Bazaar located at Poli@Clive Street, any day from now until 11 November between 2-10PM. In any case, just driving or walking through Little India during this joyous season and soaking up all the lights, sounds and smells will prove an exciting cultural treat for the whole family. You might even find some festive garlands or cool decorations for your home.
Happening from now until 15 November at Little India, Singapore. Visit their website for more information.
